I was going to write all these travel-themed posts this week – pithy updates on our three flights to get to Australia, an excerpt from the book, maybe some lessons-learned for parents traveling solo with a baby.
But.
This is thetime in the last four days I’ve managed to open my laptop. Dominic has a cold and is refusing to eat or drink much or sleep alone (or, for that matter, sleep for more than half an hour at a time, day or night). Right now he’s in the guest bedroom of our long-suffering hosts down here in Canberra. My mother is rocking him and offering him juice. He is wailing.
I am both glad to be here and becoming increasingly convinced that bringing him to Australia for three weeks was not the wisest decision I have ever made.
Needless to say all my planned posts on travel haven’t happened.
But I’m determined that something good happen in the travel domain this week, so in celebration of travel:
the e-version of Love at the Speed of Email
is temporarily on sale for $7.47.
Dominic: “7.47!! That’s clever. Cheesy, but clever. You’re very funny mama.”
Me: “Actually, 7.47 was your Papa’s idea.”
Two other things.
For those of you who love paperbacks, Barnes and Noble has the paperback on sale now for 9.32 (9.99 for the Nook).
Also, this Friday, the 13th, I draw the winner of the silk scarf from my book launch giveaway. It’s not too late to enter. Just help me spread the word about the book by doing one or more of the following:
- Share news about the book on facebook, twitter, pinterest, you name it…
- Link to news of my book launch on your blog
- Let me know you’d like me to be a guest on your blog sometime this summer
- Download the first chapter of the book - Spinsters Abroad and email it to friends you think may be interested (know anyone in a long distance relationship? Humanitarian workers? What about friends who read memoirs or love a good love story?)
- Leave a review on the book’s page on Amazon, GoodReads, Barnes and Noble, or any other forum.
If you let me know you’ve helped share the news I’ll enter your name into the draw for a silk scarf from Laos (you can even let me know what color you want). Email lisamckaywriting{at}gmail{dot}com, tag me on facebook, or tweet me @lmwriting.
And as a special thank you to those of you who’ve already done this, if you do it again in the next 48 hours I’ll enter your name into the draw a second time.

Lisa, I downloaded your book on my Kindle, thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I feel like I know you better now and Mike has always been a favorite nephew! I have told friends and family about your book. Does that qualify me to be in the drawing for the silk scarf? I would love one, perhaps red or green, even if I have to buy it and have you send me one. Thanks, Aunt Betty
PS, have a great time with your folks.
Yes, Betty, I put your name in
. Thanks. And if you don’t win we’d be happy to send you one if you place “an order”, for sure.
I ordered the book last week, but has yet to arrive. When I get it and read it, I will review on Goodreads for sure–would love to help you get the word out in any way
Thanks Meredith! Gosh, that seems to be taking a while. WOnder what the delay is on the printing end. Let me know if it drags on and on.
