Looking for home after a global upbringing

It’s book month over on A Life Overseas!! I love books and I was thrilled be able to share a little about my latest book, Love At The Speed Of Email. I’m also giving away three electronic copies (PDF, MOBI, or EPUB versions available). You can find out how to enter over at the bottom of my post over on A Life Overseas. Love At The Speed Of Email is a memoir – the story of how I met my husband while he was in Papua New Guinea working for a humanitarian organization and I was in Los Angeles working as a stress management trainer. It’s more than a love story, though, it’s a...

Ten good things that have been happening

Often when I go quiet it’s because things are not going so well, but these last couple of weeks it’s been the opposite. Things are starting to go better. Here are ten good things that have happened lately. 1.  Friday night was my (yes, quite belated) book launch for Love At The Speed Of Email. We had drinks and a reading from 5-7pm at one of Luang Prabang’s nicest resorts, The Amantaka, and it was fabulous. Even the tropical storm that blew in just added to the atmosphere.  2.  The book is racking up some seriously lovely reviews on Amazon (and a bunch of them are from...

A conversation with Marianne Elliott on Zen Peacekeeper

I’ve been spending too much time with family here (and, yes, too much time holding a coughing baby between the hours of 1 and 3:3oam) to write up the posts currently brewing in my head. But that’s OK, because today I have another treat for you instead. Today I’m being hosted on Marianne Elliott’s blog. Marianne is a writer, human rights advocate and yoga teacher. She is the author of Zen Under Fire (a book about her time working in Afghanistan that I’m looking forward to reading in the very near future) and a Huffington Post contributor. She describes her site as...

Love At The Speed Of Email on sale!

I was going to write all these travel-themed posts this week – pithy updates on our three flights to get to Australia, an excerpt from the book, maybe some lessons-learned for parents traveling solo with a baby. But. This is thetime in the last four days I’ve managed to open my laptop. Dominic has a cold and is refusing to eat or drink much or sleep alone (or, for that matter, sleep for more than half an hour at a time, day or night). Right now he’s in the guest bedroom of our long-suffering hosts down here in Canberra. My mother is rocking him and offering him juice. He is wailing. I...

In which Mike and I both answer questions about Love At The Speed Of Email

I’ve been skipping around the blogosphere a bit, dropping in on various people’s blogs to talk about Love At The Speed Of Email. It’s always fun to be a guest in someone else’s blog home, but my stop today was special. Rel was one of the first reviewers of my first book, My Hands Came Away Red, and we’ve kept in touch in the years since then. She usually blogs about fiction, so I’m honoured that she took the time to read Love and have me on her blog. Here’s how she introduced the interview. I “met” Lisa McKay online years ago, thrilled to...
